You may need to apply more wd 40 to the carpet to get all of the gum out of it. Otherwise i use oxy clean and it works. Use a scraping tool to fully scrape the gum from the carpet. Hit the frozen gum with the back of a metal kitchen utensil breaking it into pieces.

Just be careful not to spread the gum to surrounding carpet. You can use a fingernail brush to help scrape the loosened gum from the carpet. Dry cleaning involves applying a dry powder to your carpet working the powder into the carpet and then vacuuming up the dry powder. For the total removal of a dried gum from the carpet use a knife or ordinary spoon.

Put the bag of ice directly onto the gum stain. Follow the instructions on the cleaner to determine how much you should use on your carpet. Do this until the fibers become springy and start standing upright. After this time the gum should be frozen enough and you can start breaking it out.

Gently lift the gum up off of the carpet fibers with a scraping motion. Step 5 after the gum is completely removed wash the area with warm soapy water to get any oil that is left in the carpet. Vacuum your carpet before you apply the powder.
