If you re working on a large roof you need several rows of scaffolding as well as ladders to make it easier to get from one row to the other.
Getting on and off a ladder roof.
When on a roof you need to wear a harness connected to a securely anchored safety rope.
Never step over the top rung or attempt to go down with your back to the ladder.
Remember it should extend at least 3 feet above the roof s edge.
Never step up and over the top of the ladder.
What this will do is elevate the leg up to the same level as the other one.
So your ladder will not be slanted anymore.
Instead hold onto the ladder with both hands and step around the ladder and onto the roof.
The ladders don t have to be elaborate.
This video explains how to safely get on to and off of roof safely from an extension ladder.
To get back onto the ladder hold it and swing a leg onto the rung while facing the roof.
The crate will sit directly on the roof keeping the ladder off the gutter preventing contact therefore preventing crushing or bending the gutter.
Hold the ladder securely with both hands and swing one leg around to step off onto the roof.
Stay well away from power lines and don t put ladder across.
Tie rope to a structural part of house or a tree.
When you get off the roof take the same approach holding onto the ladder and stepping around it instead of over the top.
Caulk the nail holes left by the foot board to avoid roof leaks.
The crate will sit flat on the roof no matter what pitch making the ladder more stable also.
Slowly raise the ladder with crate attached to the roof just above the gutter.
You have to place it under the leg on the ladder which is on the lower side of the roof.
To access a roof you ll need an extension ladder.
Throw rope with at.
Use a rope to secure the ladder when bungee cords aren t available.
